AssiDoman mulls over board offers

The board of AssiDoman met on January 17 2001 to discuss the two offers for its containerboard and corrugated operations. The company whose offer is favored by AssiDoman will get all or part of a package, which consists of the Sturovo mill in Slovakia and the Frivo mill in Sweden. The two sites produce a total of 430,000 tonnes per year of cartonboard. Kappa Packaging and a consortium including SCA and South Africa's Mondi have submitted bids for the units. Kappa Packaging is expected to gain the most if it won the bid and would become one of the top three European major league.
