The design of air coolers for viscous media must take into account the pressure drop and thermal expansion of the viscous liquid. Heat transfer in laminar liquid flow is improved by internal expanded surfaces. The effect of longitudinal ribs and of helical ribs is evaluated. Optimal heat exchanger designs are discussed.
