Sulphur removal during coal pyrolysis in a fluidized bed of reducing condition

There is a reducing area at the bottom of circulating fluidized bed furnace and the mechanism of desulfurrization in this area is different from that in the oxidation area. Four kinds of coal with different sulfur contents were pyrolyzed in fluidized bed in three reducing conditions. The results indicate that the sulfur in coal is mainly transformed to gaseous H2S. The generation speed of H2S increases with the increase of reducing degree. Due to oxygen in coal, some of the sulfur is transformed to SO2. Decomposition of sulphate is the main way of generating SO2. The rule of forming H2S and the effects of deoxidization and sulfur content on H2S were described.
