Experiments have been conducted on 0. 2 per cent carbon steel tufftrided gears in a back to back gear test rig to study their surface durability chaaracteristics. These studies reveal that tufftrided gears perform satisfactorily even under high loads. Thus, tufftriding has a large potential for application in the treatment of gears.
