ANALYSIS OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF DIRECTIONALLY CRYSTALLIZED TERNARY ALLOYS Al-Ni-Co AND Al-Ni-Si.

The relation between the morphological and mechanical properties is investigated in a directionally crystallized binary eutectic Al-Ni and ternary eutectics based on Al-Ni. At a crystallization rate R equals 1 multiplied by 10** minus **5 m multiplied by (times) sec** minus **1 for the binary eutectic Al-Al//3Ni UTS equals 285 MPa, elongation delta equals 1-2%. For Al-Ni-Co and Al-Ni-Si the tensile strength is 185 and 173 MPa at delta equals 1%. The massive strengthening phases Al//3Ni, Al//9Co//2 and Si in the ductile matrix lower the strength of material.
