Study of iron oxide reduction with CO plus H//2 at 680, 812, and 950 C by chemical, x-ray, and electron microscope analyses leads to the conclusion that the reduction of magnetite starts only after almost complete disappearance of hematite, and the wustite-iron transformation becomes significant only after exhustion of the magnetite. Reduction of Lorraine sinter is less complete and slower than reduction of Fe//2O//3.
