Development of mathematical model of thermal processes

Open-hearth furnace is currently used at 'Nosta' company. In order to improve efficiency of the furnace, mathematical model of the steelmaking process in it has been developed. New thermodynamic data have been used in the model. Reactions between various phases at interfaces of atmosphere - slag, slag - metal, and metal - furnace bottom have been described in the model. Calculations of parameters of the steelmaking process have been performed with the use of the model. Results of the calculations agree with experimental data. The model can be applied for improvement in the process in the furnace.
