A minicomputer based system for the detection and quantification of ventricular arrhythimas has been developed. The system processes continuous, long term ECG recordings from patients undergoing dose-ranging studies with antiarrhythmic drugs. The system hardware includes a DEC PDP-11/40 minicomputer. The system software utilizes simple template matching algorithms. Up to twelve different ventricular foci may be automatically classified by the program. Process time is typically 5-10 minutes per recorded hour of ECG. System validation indicates accuracy rates above 98%.
