摘要：
While Stothert & Pitt's new multiphase pump was designed for use in oil production, it could have many applications in the process industries. Installing the pump on drilling rigs will allow oil companies to pump gas on-land, with oil, for processing to fuel or chemical feedstock. Previously it has been easier to flare gas off on the rig, as a suitable multiphase pump has not been available. It will also provide greater flexibility in oil production allowing marginal fields to be developed economically.
