The predicted alpha / alpha ** plus gamma retrograde solubility below 500 degree C in the Fe-Ni system was recently demonstrated by Romig and Goldstein. With the use of this phase diagram in conjunction with other published data, values for the parameters of a solution model for each phase were calculated. A computer calculation of the low temperature Fe-Ni phase diagram was made. The tie lines were established by solving a set of two nonlinear equations in two unknowns (the phase boundary compositions).
