The automobile industry, with its stringent requirements with regard to the materials it employs for thousands of individual parts and components, has always been one of the most important driving forces in the development of new steels and the optimisation of the processes employed for their production. Today, steel with its impressive versatility is still a material of paramount importance for automotive engineering. Variety and flexibility - these are the strengths of steel. They will assist the steel producer and the automobile industry in accepting and overcoming the enormous challenges of the future in the form of, on the one hand, heavy competition and overcapacity, and, on the other hand, the social and ecological demands being placed on their products.
