Oil pollution clean-up using a portable buoy

A new oil spill clean up device, called Oil Swallow, has been developed by the Dutch company Water Pollution Control Systems which can remove oil from the surface of the water at an efficiency rate of 70%. This can be compared with a typical efficiency rate for units currently in use of around 12%. This corresponds to a recovery capacity of 840,000 liters/min. The components and the principles of operating the Oil Swallow are presented.
