Results are reported for an investigation into the resistivity and dielectric strength of paper-oil insulation. The resistivity of sheet and tape paper-oil insulation have been obtained as functions of field strength, moisture content, and temperature. The dielectric strength of both types of insulation has been determined for various values of moisture content, temperature, duration of voltage application, and insulation thickness. The possibility of utilizing paper-oil insulation characteristics obtained with models for evaluating the dielectric strength of oil-barrier insulation has been investigated.
