These results show that the original (before testing) concentration of microdiscontinuities exerts an influence on the time-to-rupture, which decreases as the latter grows. Analysis of the processes controlling the rate of failure (time-to-rupture) would generally have to take account of the original microporosity although, it does not have a very great influence on the strength.
