Using the method of torsional vibrations, a study was made of the viscosity of molten iron and the effect of alloying elements such as Cr, W, Mo, Nb, V, Co and Ni on the viscosity. Also studied was the viscosity of molten alloy steels containing various amounts of chromium, tungsten, and nickel. The dependences obtained are attributed to microinhomogeneity of the molten metal and to the special features of the distribution of alloying elements among the structural components of the melts.
