Modeling of in-cylinder flow of direct-injection diesel engine

The Arbitrary Lagarangian-Eulerian Method was used to model the air motion inside the cylinder of direct-injection diesel engines. The combustion chamber was assumed to be axisymmetric, so the chamber can have some more complicated shapes. The grids can be arbitrary. A subgrid scale turbulence model including turbulent energy transport was included. The air motion and squish effect inside the cylinder of a diesel with a cylindrical bowl has been computed, and the results have been analyzed.
