摘要
Carbide cutting tools have been available in U. S. A. since the late 1920's. This article reviews some of the major developments in these materials over the years and considers some of the improvements that are apt to appear in the future. In the future, as material shortage becomes more severe, even smaller amounts of carbide are expected to be used than at present, in the case of throw-away carbides. At present the amount of carbide that is actually involved in cutting is a small fraction of that used to produce an insert.
