摘要
The quantum yield in the formation of free radicals upon irradiation of PMMA with 254 nm light has been measured by the inhibition method, using substituted piperidine-and pyrroline-1-oxyls as radical acceptors. Kinetics of photochemical reactions of nitroxide radicals in this polymer has been investigated and the quantum yield has been determined. The values of quantum yield determined for the initiation in degradation of PMMA, together with existing data on the scission of macromolecular chains in photolysis of the solid polymer, enable one to estimate the amount of radicals necessary for a given lowering of PMMA molecular weight.
