CRBRP MOCKUPS IDENTIFY DESIGN PROBLEMS AND FACILITATE CONSTRUCTION.

Full-size mockups of the reactor closure head access area and the reactor upper internals structure were used on the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Plant project to refine designs, plan installation sequences, and study operating and maintenance requirements. The value of a full-size mockup of a complex reactor plant was amply demonstrated. The designers found it especially useful for its presentation of equipment in three dimensions, and in the working relationship with surrounding equipment during normal operation and refueling.
