An experimental investigvation of heat transfer to a viscous Newtonian liquid in laminar flow in a straight horizontal circular tube is reported. The results are shown to be adequately corrected by the correlations due to Sieder and Tate and Pavlovska-Popovska for small initial temperature differences, but for large initial temperature differences inaccuracy arises. An alternative correlation based on the latter method is recommended for cases where the radial variation of viscosity with temperature is large.
