摘要
A continuous casting process for high-alloy steels such as 13% Mn steel, 9% Ni steel, and stainless steels (AISI 631, AISI 310S) has been developed. Tensile testing at elevated temperatures and microscopic examination of the fractured surface have shown that high crack sensitivity is due to segregation and/or precipitation of sulfur and phosphorus at gamma -gain boundaries, and for 9% Ni steel, large thermal expansion at the gamma / alpha transformation. Decreasing the content of phosphorus and sulfur and decreasing the rate of slab reheating improve the occurrence of surface and subsurface cracks during continuous casting and hot rolling, making commercial production feasible.
