摘要
A stochastic model for generating long-term annual extreme winds, on the basis of short-term records, is investigated in order to utilize limited lengths of wind records for obtaining extreme wind speeds in a tropical cyclone-prone region for structural design. Some preliminary results are presented herein. The basic strategy underlying this proposed method is to generate the time series of hourly wind speeds in parts: for those winds associated with well-behaved climates in which extraordinary strong winds are not expected to occur; and, for those extreme winds belonging to tropical cyclones or other extratropical winds. An application of this proposed method is demonstrated.
