In this investigation the frictional pressure drop studies are made for laminar flow of Newtonian (water, glycerel solutions) and non-Newtonian (sodium CMC solutions) liquids in Archimedian spiral coils of varying curvature ratios. Spiral coils are made using PVC tube of 1. 21 cm (ID) and the curvature ratio is varied from 0. 0223 to 0. 0639. The effect of curvature ratio and length to diameter ratio on the pressure drop is studied. Based on the experimental data two correlations are proposed to predict friction factor for laminar flow in spiral coils.
