Correlation between vibration and burrs

Vibration drilling refers to the drilling attached with an axial vibration, which produces undulatory cutting surfaces. There is a phase difference between the undulatory surfaces cut by two major cutting edges and zero-phase-difference can be obtained if the vibration frequency and the drilling speed are properly selected. Experiments indicate that zero-phase-difference vibration favours drilling processes. This note reports the effects of zero-phase-difference vibration drilling on burr formation.
