Study on wear resistance of Co-based alloy coating by laser surface melt-casting

The effect of Co-based alloy coating, which is melt-cast on the surface of GH33 high temperature alloy by laser, on wear resistance, has been studied. The results of wear test show that the wear resistance of the coating is three times higher than that of base metal. The mechanism of the wear of composite coating is investigated by means of SEM, EMPA and X-ray diffraction. It is deemed as the synthesis of adhesive wear, abrasive wear and fatigue wear.
