The various design procedures are described which include: evolution of design, sources of design data and types of design data, conventional and automated design including structural synthesis, simultaneous component and material design, important factors to be considered in designing composite components, and some sample design cases. The text is supplemented with pertinent illustrations to illustrate concepts, procedures, or structural response.
