On Ba6Pr2Co4O15 and Ba5SrPr2Co4O15

Ba6Pr2Co4O15 (I) and Ba5SrPr2Co4O15 (II) have been prepared by high temperature CO2-LASER techniques. Both compounds crystallize with hexagonal symmetry, space group C46v-P63mc, (I): a = 11.814(1), c = 7.100(2) Å; (II): a = 11.646(1), c = 6.8602 Å, Z = 2. It is remarkable that the strongly reducing Pr3+ can coexist with the more oxidizing Co3+.
