In order to clarify the non-linear effect of the width between two adjacent orthogonals on the wave height change due to refraction, the equations of transformation for finite amplitude waves including the water depth and the orthogonal width are derived by the method of wave energy flux. Secondly, experiments are made for the wave height change in the combined three cases of decreasing water depth and/or decreasing wave tank width, and experimental data are compared with theoretical values from the derived equations of wave transformation. Finally, formulas for wave height change are proposed.
