LIMIT LOAD AND RIGIDITY OF THIN SHALLOW HYPAR SHELLS.

Methods of calculation concerning the limit load of thin shallow Hypar shells are reviewed, and their rigidity is demonstrated. The correspondence between the bearing capacity of a plane parallel concrete or steel plate and the load carrying capacity of a Hypar shell which has the same dimensions, thickness, load and reinforcement is considered. The degree of rigidity of the plate and shell is expressed with the aid of the elastic central deflections of the plate and of the Hypar shell.
