摘要
Municipal engineering is about building and maintaining the physical infrastructure. Roads and airports, housing and sewers, water supply and public buildings are not only important to us now but will be fundamental to the development of new industries and the settlement of new populations. Such facilities cannot be provided overnight, a major capital project may take anything from 8-15 years to get from conception to completion, and once provided there must be continuing commitment to its maintenance. Service programs are inevitably interrelated with others and if the broad range of provision is to be made at the time it is needed there has to be planning, co-ordination and sustained effort supported by the necessary financial resources.
