摘要：
Losses due to corrosion of iron and steel surfaces amount to a staggering rupees 1500 crores annually. Therefore, protection of iron and steel surfaces from corrosion has been a vital area of concern for the engineering industry. Protective coating plays a major role by acting as a barrier between the corrosive atmosphere and the steel substrate. Among the recent developments in the protective coatings industry, zinc-rich silicate based inorganic coatings are emerging as coatings have also been discussed.
