Low temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8

摘要
A low temperature scanning tunneling microscope was used to measure the energy gap of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 in the direction perpendicular to the a-b plane. The derivative curve differs significantly from that expected for a Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer density of states. No multiple gap features have been observed. The energy gap was consistently measured to be about 21 meV.
