Gulf Oil Canada Ltd. 's project calling for installation of a yield accounting, refinery information and closed loop supervisory control system at the company's Edmonton, Alberta, refinery is described. The system is designed to maximize production of the most valuable products, improve planning, scheduling cost accounting, as well as improve efficiency of fuel and steam usage. The project is expected to cost about 1. 5-2 million. Benefits could well be in the 0. 5-1 million/yr area and provide Gulf a good return on the project.
