摘要
The effects of part processing and surface densification on the rolling contact fatigue (RCF) properties of a high-density P/M steel FLN2-4405 were investigated. Depth of densification, sintering conditions, surface microstructure and post-densification heat-treatment were studied in detail. The study shows that nickel-rich regions are associated with increased levels of residual porosity. It was found that the RCF performance of the P/M-processed steel equaled or exceeded the performance of wrought steel at the lower Hertzian contact stress of 1,900 MPa.
