摘要
The Darlington configuration handles the high voltage and current required by a high-speed switching device. Also, it is priced competitively with SCR's, the traditional component for switching at lower frequencies. Darlingtons achieve high-frequency switching of dc power without the commutating (turn-off) chokes and capacitors required by SCR's. High-frequency switching and reduction in size of magnetic components make the Darlington switching regulator an efficient and economical device for power control. The Darlington provides high switching frequencies and output waveforms that are purer than those provided by SCR control. The result is a lower harmonic content in the output and less radio-frequency interference back into the input power line. Improved efficiency reduces internal heat generation and the size and weight of heat sinks.
