The definition of measurement uncertainty is very important for its correct and reliable evaluation. The paper deals with methodology of determination of measurement uncertainties in both the direct method and calibration, relating to either Type A or Type B method of evaluation. The aim of the work was to carry out a detailed analysis of uncertainty - mainly of Type B the definition of which is more complicated. The procedure includes the following steps: initial identification of individual sources of uncertainty, definition of deviation of individual sources, definition of their distribution by means of probability and correlation method, final quantification of the values of individual contributors.
