High-efficiency honing machines and the increasing use of hones containing natural or synthetic diamond abrasives now permit almost all types of materials to be honed to optimum surface finish and high tolerances, both on dimensions and form, at high removal rates. In addition, honing provides superior economy in comparison with techniques such as fine turning or grinding.
