摘要
The catalytic hydrodesulfurization of coal tar naphthalene has been successfully used in five commercial plants. In addition to removing sulfur compounds, hydrotreating reduces or eliminates other impurities such as nitrogen compounds, unsaturates and metals. The treated naphthalen constitutes an improved phthalic anhydride plant feedstock. Refining costs are generally under one quarter c/b, catalyst deactivation is infrequent, operating and maintenance costs are minimal. The versatility of the Unionfining process makes it applicable for the hydrogenation of a wide variety of other chemicals.
