Given today's growing concerns over falling occupancy rates, the cost of energy, and the proper choice of an engineered HVAC system, mechanical engineers are more thoroughly scrutinizing their system designs. This is not only to suit a system better to a particular building or application, but it is also to make the mechanical system more economical to install, operate, and maintain. The paper describes how air cooled chiller systems can often be easier to install, cheap to maintain, and more economical to operate than water cooled systems.
