摘要
A design procedure for ensuring the smooth discharge of bulk solids from hoppers is introduced and its practical application is discussed. The keys to obtain the smooth flow are reduced to the following two items: (1) The flowability of bulk solids depends on the particle size and the moisture content. Therefore, it is necessary to measure the flowability corresponding to the critical condition predicted in the field operation. (2) The wall of the hopper needs to be lined with material of sufficiently low friction to allow mass-flow of the solids.
