Determination of the dislocation structure in Fe70Al30

Fe70 Al30 is an D03-ordered intermetallic alloy. An important deformation feature is the yield stress anomaly. Dislocation processes have been studied by straining thin single crystal foils of Fe70Al30 in a transmission electron microscope. These in-situ experiments as well as the TEM post mortem observation of compact compression tested specimens always revealed twofold dissociated screw dislocations. No fourfold dissociations have been found. The length of the Burgers vector of the partials was determined to be a0/4〈111〉.
