The problem has been solved by superposition of potentials due to a number of circular discs placed adjacent to each other, forming the upstream and downstream equipotential regions representing seepage from a canal from upstream of a hydraulic structure to the downstream of it. The superposition of the solution due to elementary discs is permissible because of the linearity of the Laplace equation.
