Hot Forming - 1. Basic Principles.

Temperature ranges and deformation rates generally involved in hot forming processes are indicated. A description is given of the mechanisms responsible for static softening of materials hardened by cold forming. The various laboratory tests commonly employed to study the behavior of materials during hot forming are critically examined.
