The Takehara No. 3 fossil fuel fired thermal power plant of the Electric Power Development Co. , Ltd. (EPDC) was put into operation in March, 1983. This is one of Hitachi's largest machines used in the 60 Hz frequency area. The authors introduce various techniques applied to this cross compound type steam turbine and generator with data of its operating conditions.
