Steel reinforced concrete structure (SRC) has good properties when subjected to axial-compression load but has no advantage to eccentric load or combined lateral and axial loads. A prestressed steel reinforced concrete structure (PSRC) has been presented. With the high tension strength of prestressed cables and good anti-bending capacity of SRC, the flexural capacity of the structure can be greatly enhanced. Based on the analysis of the mechanism. an analytical method of the bearing capacity of the structure has been proposed, the comparison between the PSRC and the SRC shows that the former has higher flexural capacity.
