摘要
A laboratory-scale rotary kiln has been used to determine the effects of variation in temperature, residence time in the hot zone of the kiln, particle size, gas composition, and gas flowrate. The reducing atmosphere was generated by autocatalytic reforming of a hydrocarbon gas within the kiln and a relationship is established between the extent of hydrocarbon cracking and the carbon content of the direct-reduced iron.
