ENZYME ELECTRODE FOR GLUTAMATE DETERMINATION.

Glutamate decarboxylase (L-glutamate decarboxylase, E, C, AS. 505) immobilised in sodium alginate using the bifunctional agent glutaraldehyde is attached to a carbon dioxide-sensing electrode. The enzyme electrodes thus prepared are used in a bath system which is agitated with an electromagnetic stirrer at constant temperature to measure the concentration of L-glutamic acid. The measuring time for each sample is about 10-15 min by static method and about 1 min by dynamic method.
