Ammonia temperature, cure duration, use of NH//4 OH after treatments, method of oxidation and fabric structure were studied to determine optimum conditions for the application of THPOH-NH//3 fire retardant to cotton fabric. Duration of the ammonia gas cure and use of an ammonium hydroxide aftertreatment were found to be more important to efficient polymer fixation than ammonia temperature or the other variables studied.
