摘要：
The best solution isn't always the most expensive. By replacing rigid shear walls with a ductile frame, Taipei's World Trade Mart was given the flexibility that its trade shows needed and that local earthquake potential demanded. Largely because of this substitution, the mart was also completed 30% under budget. Other design highlights included a floating foundation and innovations such as temporarily hinging columns and bolted expansion joints.
