Unwanted modes associated with the resonance to be utilized must be suppressed in electromechanical filters. Resonant-frequency spectra of the thickness modes of a PbTiO//3 ceramic disk are measured and compared with those obtained by the theory of elasticity for a homogeneous disk. Edge modes corresponding to those given by the theory are observed. it is found that the resonant frequencies of the thickness modes of the disk converge to a frequency lower than the cutoff frequency of the thickness-shear modes of even order.
